Man shot during robbery at south San Antonio strip club

San Antonio Police: Man shot at MVP Club defending girlfriend from robbers

A man suffered a gunshot wound to his arm while defending his girlfriend from armed robbers who barged into the MVP Club early Wednesday, according to San Antonio police.

Officers at the scene in the 3700 block of Roosevelt Avenue said as many as four men stormed into the South Side strip club around 4 a.m. Wednesday and robbed patrons of the business.

A man who stepped between the robbers and his girlfriend was shot in the lower right arm, police said.

He was treated at the scene for his wound, which was not life threatening. About two hours later, he left the scene in a private vehicle.

The robbers, meanwhile, sped away from the club, but officers spotted the getaway car a short time later and gave chase.

Police said they arrested two men after the car crashed somewhere in the area of Hackberry and S. Presa streets. Two other men got away.

Police conducted a search on the ground and from the air, by helicopter.  However, they did not find them right away.

Officers said they also arrested the girlfriend of the man who was shot after she became unruly. They said the woman kicked out a window on a patrol car.

Later, while police had her in handcuffs, she attempted to run away,  but officers tackled her and took her into custody again.
