Northside man facing improper photography charges

Prosecutor: House guest secretly record in shower by Kevin Esparza

SAN ANTONIO - A San Antonio man was arrested early Wednesday morning accused of taking pictures with a hidden camera of a woman in the shower.

Kevin Esparza was arrested after the woman, who was a house guest in the man’s home, found a camera hidden in what appeared to be a speaker in a bathroom shower, investigators said.

“This is an absolute invasion of privacy, as well is should be,” said Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed.

According to the law, a person commits improper photography when a person’s picture is taken in a setting “where there is an expectation of privacy," or when the pictures “are intended to gratify the sexual desires of any person."

"In your own home -- anywhere,” Reed said.

“You just can’t set up a camera to be taking pictures of a private nature of people without their consent,” she said.

A conviction carries a maximum sentence of two years in state jail.
