2 men arrested in 'chop shop,' drug bust
Investigators acting on tip discover drugs, gun inside home
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio police arrested two men Thursday at a home on the 900 block of Elsmere uncovering an alleged chop shop.
A tip led officers to the location.
San Antonio police spokesman Matthew Porter says officers could see the men tearing apart a 1997 GMC pickup truck behind a fence when they walked up the steps to knock on the front door.
Police arrested a 28-year-old man and a 38-year-old man, who will both be charged with theft of a vehicle.
Drugs and a fake gun were also found in the home.
The 28-year-old man also faces charges of marijuana possession, while the 38-year-old faces charges of cocaine possession.
A tow truck hauled away the remnants of the pickup, which was no longer drivable.
Porter says license plates that might have been stolen were found in the home, so the men arrested could face additional charges.
SAPD busted another alleged chop shop on the city’s east side last week, but say the two are not connected.
