Big rig crashes on I-10 near Foster Road

18-wheeler was carrying rebar

The driver of a big rig was apparently driving too fast when he crashed in northeast Bexar County early Thursday.
Deputies said the driver took the exit ramp on Westbound I-10 to Foster road too fast, causing the trailer to roll onto its side.
The 18-wheeler was hauling rebar, which spilled onto the highway. Crews spent hours hauling the cargo away.
Hazmat crews were also called out to the scene to clean up engine oil.
There was no immediate word if the driver was injured.
