Armed men target Exxon, Sonic in separate robberies

San Antonio police: Exxon employees chased away robbery suspects, no injuries reported

San Antonio police are on the lookout for four men after two armed robberies early Friday morning.

The first armed robbery was reported around 12:30 a.m. at an Exxon gas station on Highway 90 and West Military Drive.

Police said two men walked into the store and attempted to take some cash, but the employees got into a struggle with the suspects.

The pair grabbed some beer and opened fire on the employees as they were chased out of the store, but the employees were not hit.

The suspects were seen driving away in a black four-door compact car with chrome rims.

The same car is believed to have been involved in a crash in the 500 block of Tomar a short time later. Police have not announced any arrests in the case.

About 15 minutes later, two other armed robbery suspects forced their way into the Sonic drive-in in the 7900 block of Culebra.

San Antonio police said the suspects made their way inside through the back door after an employee walked outside.

Witnesses said the men demanded cash then fled on foot. Police said no one was injured. Police have not announced any arrests in connection with this robbery as well.
