Businesses and individuals alike are lending a helping hand to their fellow Texans, helping them deal with the aftermath of that tragic explosion in West, Texas.
Patricia Doria and her charity, Heart To Heart For You, has set up collection boxes at 20 businesses around San Antonio for items like toiletries, diapers and paper towels for those who need assistance dealing with the results of the explosion.
“My heart goes out to the people of West, (who) have been faced with a horrific tragedy,” said Patricia Doria, who founded the charity. "It’s just our way of giving back to another community that is in need.”
A list of businesses with collection boxes and items needed go to www.h2h4u.org.
Also giving assistance to the community of West is HEB.
The grocery giant sent their disaster relief units to the scene of the explosion. Those units include a mobile kitchen serving hot meals to first responders and evacuees three times a day.
They also have their relief unit on site that contains a business center, ATM and mobile pharmacy.
Customers can also help out by purchasing coupons worth $1, $3 or $5. All the proceeds of those purchases will go to the Red Cross.
“We want to be able to help out the communities and we know our customers want to help out, " said Kimberly Harle, HEB public affairs spokeswoman.
