Driver faces fines after big rig gets stuck on train tracks

Big rig got stuck on tracks near Cumberland and Frio City Road

A big rig caused some headaches after it got stuck on train tracks southwest of downtown San Antonio.

The rig got stuck around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday near Cumberland and Frio City Road.

San Antonio police said the rig was carrying 30,000 pounds of flat steel when it became stuck.

Union Pacific had to stop at least nine trains to avoid a collision and allow crews to remove the big rig.

Officials said the driver will be fined for every train that was stopped.

The cost is between $700 to $900 per hour for every train stopped. No injuries were reported.
