Fans cheer 2013 Texas Cavalier River Parade
51 floats part of annual event
This year, more than 17,000 people attended Monday's Texas Cavalier River Parade.
“I would bring them all the time every year , year after year after year , I would miss none of them,” said Rosa Hernandez.
Hernandez is a proud grandmother who said the River Parade has been her family’s tradition for over 20 years.
They’ve camped out since early Monday afternoon to get their front row seats on the Riverwalk.
“The whole thing is our favorite part," said Virginia Hernandez.
James Edwards said he’s been in San Antonio for 33 years, so this is his 33rd time at the event. He believes each year gets bigger and better.
“It's live you can reach out and touch the people the music comes by the people start dancing and screaming and start throwing things,” said Edwards.
This year, the Texas Cavalier River Parade had 51 floats. With each having its own unique style or musical flair, people young and the young at heart smiled and waved as they sailed away. And while all the eye catching floats went by, it was hard not to notice certain people in the crowd.
Those San Antonioans wanted to celebrate Fiesta with a look all their own.
Silvana Grigsby enjoyed the parade wearing a big beautiful fiesta hat and said the best part of fiesta is, “just being out here with everyone in San Antonio having fun.”
And this was a parade with a purpose. All the money raised tonight going to local children’s charities.
