Historic San Antonio mini golf course reopening
Cool Crest Miniature Golf Course set to open in June
In about a month, Cool Crest Miniature Golf Course will be back in business.
City Researchers say the vintage course has been around since 1929.
Thanks to the Andry brothers, San Antonians who grew up near the historical landmark, they hope restoring the two acre gem will attract putt putters of all ages.
“It was such a beautiful place and we just had such fond memories of coming here it's kinda something we wanted to do," said co –owner Phillip Andry
Cool Crest is located in the heart of the Art Deco District of San Antonio. It closed in 2007 after the owner Maria Metzger couldn’t maintain it anymore.
The Andry brothers bought the property late last year, now they have workers restoring the course to how it use to look back in its hey day in the 1950s or 1960s.
“With all the lush plants... bring the colors back that they had originally,” said Andrey.
The course two 18-hole courses and Andry said it soon will once again be dense with elegant banana trees, tropical foliage, and meandering brooks. He hopes Cool Crest will be a place people can enjoy once again.
“We hope it brings families in and they can develop memories that we had,” Andry said.
