Fredericksburg plane crash kills married couple

Mansfield couple, Donald and Jeanne Frosch, killed in accident

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas - The FAA and NTSB are trying to determine why a single engine plane crashed in Fredericksburg Thursday afternoon.

The pilot, 43-year-old Donald Frosch, and his 41-year-old wife, Jeanne, were killed in the crash. They’re from Mansfield, Texas.

“I heard a loud woomp kind of a sound around 1 o’clock," said Fredericksburg resident Alan Williams.

The Department of Public Safety said the couple’s plane left from Fort Worth Spinks Airport and were just two miles northeast of the Gillespie County Airport in Fredericksburg their final destination.

When the plane crashed, it broke into pieces just before a group of trees.

"The thing that really struck us the smell of electric or burning electrical in the air we thought something was wrong with our house,” said Williams.

The plane went down on private property. There were no homes nearby.
