Father, son arrested in jewelry theft while cleaning houses
John Rodriguez, 20, Rodolfo Rodriguez, 39, subcontracted by Maid Easy to clean an apartment
SAN ANTONIO - A father and son are behind bars after investigators said they stole jewelry from a women's home.
It happened at the View Apartments in the 21000 block of Encino Commons, just off of Evans Road.
According to an arrest affidavit, the men stole the jewelry while they were cleaning for a company named Maid Easy.
The incident happened on April 30, 2013.
According to the report, John Rodriguez, 20, and his father Rodolfo Rodriguez, 39, were subcontracted by Maid Easy to clean an apartment in the 21000 block of Encino Commons, but when they left, the woman who lived there noticed that the rings she set on the table were gone.
The affidavit further states that when the woman went to check her bedroom, more of her jewelry had been taken from the storage drawer.
That's when she contacted apartment management and the police.
After checking Rodriguez's information through a pawnshop database, police found he had pawned at least three rings and two David Yurman bracelets.
The women told police the jewelry altogether was worth more than $6,000.
Both father and son were arrested and charged with theft.
Managers at the View Apartments said they have been working closely with police and that they are no longer using Maid Easy.
Instead, they said they are working with another company that conducts background checks.
KSAT asked Maid Easy if they conducted background checks, but they said they couldn't answer the question and to contact the owner on Monday.
