Bexar County detention officer injured in fight with other jailer

Argument escalates into fight between Bexar jailers

SAN ANTONIO - A Bexar County detention officer was sent to Nix Hospital after he got into a physical altercation with another officer Sunday morning.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, the altercation started as a verbal disagreement, then led to the fight that sent the deputy to the hospital.

The officer did not receive life threatening injuries, but had surgery to address the injury.

Bexar County sheriff's detectives are investigating the matter, but both officers have been placed on administrative leave until further notice.

There will also be an internal investigation by the Professional Standards and Integrity Division, the Bexar County sheriff’s version of internal affairs, to determine any disciplinary action.

Sheriff Susan Pamerleau is expected to hold a news conference Monday morning to release further details.
