LIVE OAK, Texas - Live Oak resident Patrick Felux, 27, reportedly has denied knowing for certain how child pornography made its way onto his home computer.

Felux was arrested Monday morning on a charge of possession of child pornography.

Sgt. Anita Seamans, with the Live Oak Police Department, said the arrest stems from an investigation that began last fall.

She said a former roommate came forward Nov. 16 stating that he had found images on Felux’s home computer of children engaging in sexual activity.

“He said he was using the computer to complete a homework assignment,” Seamans said. “There were still pictures and video.”

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, those images depicted both boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 16 engaging in sex acts.

The affidavit stated there also was video of a girl as young as 9 years old viewing a pornographic magazine and engaging in sex acts with a grown man.

Seamans said Felux told detectives he had, in fact, downloaded pornography, but he said the images were related to an adult fetish.

The illegal pictures of children were found in one of those downloaded files, Seamans said.

The affidavit states that Felux also said that several people who lived with him in the past had access to the computer, too.

“We believe that he did, indeed, know the images were there,” Seamans said.

The seemingly lengthy investigation in this case was due to legal and technological issues, Seamans said.

She said Felux’s computer had to be put through a thorough forensic examination before an arrest could be made.

“A search warrant is asked for and received,” Seamans said. “Then that computer takes its place in line with, literally, hundreds of (seized) computers and waits to be examined by a qualified expert.”

According to the affidavit, Live Oak police received the results of that examination on May 7, then obtained a warrant for Felux’s arrest two days later.

Records show Felux was taken into custody Monday morning, and released from jail after posted a $15,000 bond Monday night.
