Victim's body found in house on E. Mistletoe
SAN ANTONIO - A police report detailing the initial investigation into a man's death was released Thursday morning.
The man's body was found Wednesday in an apartment inside a house in the 100 block of East Mistletoe.
According to the report, the woman who found the man's body reported seeing the deceased sometime last week, but had not seen or heard from him since.
She said she was in the area of his home, and decided to stop by to check on him on Wednesday.
She said she found the front door to his apartment unlocked.
According to a police report, the woman found the man dead with "trauma to his body."
He is described as being a Hispanic male, age 45, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds.
A woman has who identified herself as the man's daughter claims his name is Jose Avila. However, his name has not been confirmed by police.
San Antonio police Chief William McManus on Wednesday would not confirm how the man died, but instead referred to it as a "violent crime."
According to the report, police are investigating his death as a homicide.
