Brauchle Elementary school throws party for student leaving on Make-A-Wish trip

Kindergartner with brain tumor heading for Disney Cruise

SAN ANTONIO - Braunchle Elementary School threw a bon voyage party for a kindergarten student who is leaving for a Disney Cruise courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"I was so surprised," said 5-year-old Scarlette Wilson, who was greeted at school by Cinderella.

"It was very unexpected to have Cinderella out here, and I know that Scarlette has had one of the best days of her life," said Scott Wilson, Scarlette's father.

The students and teachers all dressed up for her send-off, and several students spoke about how much Scarlette means to the school.

"Everybody knows her. Everybody loves her, and looks out for her. We're so grateful to be a part of this school," said Scarlette's mother, Becca Wilson.

Scarlette was diagnosed with medulla blastoma in 2011. Her cancer has been in remission for nine months, and her parents said she is still working to get her energy back.

Scarlette said she couldn't wait to sleep on a boat.

"I really think I'm going to have so much fun," she said.
