Harlandale ISD honors district's fallen soldiers

District remembers former students killed in foreign wars on Memorial Day

SAN ANTONIO - There are 93 names on Harlandale ISD's memorial to the fallen, and Monday the district honored them with a Memorial Day ceremony.
Many joining in the ceremony are themselves veterans who the served the cause of freedom.
Each of the names on the Harlandale memorial is a former student killed while serving America.
And the vets at today's memorial said the sacrifice of the fallen should be a guide to the district's current students about the nature of service and the cost of freedom.
"It is very important for the younger generation to continue to join us as we remember those so they can see what we are doing for others as we continue to serve others," said Marine veteran John A. Rodriguez.
Harlandale ISD built it's veterans memorial in 1971.
