Robber takes cash, car from northside store manager

Police find stolen car near robbery scene

A knife-carrying man attacked and robbed a northside store manager, and got away in the manager's own car.

The robbery happened just after 9 a.m. Sunday in the 4400 block of West Ave.

The manager told police he was doing paperwork when he saw a suspicious looking man outside.

The manager went to lock the door but the man got there first and forced his way into the store.

The manager told police the suspect had a large knife and pinned him to the ground.

He said the robber took his wallet and car keys, then took cash from the store's register and tried to get money from the safe, but the manager was not able to open it.

The robber then took off in the manager's own car.

Police say they found the car around the block from the store.

They searched for the robber but could not find him.

The manager was not hurt.

Police are now investigating.
