Shoplifting suspect flees, leaves wallet at Walgreens

San Antonio police arrest Michael Ide, 42, on theft charge

SAN ANTONIO - A shoplifting suspect identified as 42-year-old Michael Ide gave San Antonio police a big clue about a crime by leaving his wallet behind in a North Side store.

The wallet was inside a bag that the suspect left when he ran off after being caught in the act, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

The affidavit stated that the manager of Walgreens in the 3400 block of San Pedro told officer on June 8 that Ide was seen placing items from the store into his bag.

It stated that an employee stopped him as he tried to leave the business without paying, and asked to search the bag.

After Ide handed over the bag, he ran out of the store, the affidavit stated. Workers told police that along with store property, they found Ide’s wallet inside the bag.

Police caught up with Ide and arrested him Thursday on a charge of theft.
