Teen Fatally Shot By Guadalupe County Sheriff's Deputies

16-year-old Jonas Alonzo shot multiple times by Guadalupe County Sheriff's Deputies

Guadalupe County -  A teen was shot multiple times by two Guadalupe County Sheriff's Deputies on Friday night in the 2700 block of FM 1044.

The deputies were called to a home around 7 p.m. for a suicidal suspect.

Law enforcement officials say Jonas Alonzo pulled a knife and “made a move towards the sheriff’s deputies”.

The teen’s family said he was shot in the head, chest and leg.

He died late Friday night in a hospital in New Braunfels.

According to Alonzo family the teen had been drinking at his step-aunt's house with a friend.

The woman said Alonzo picked up a knife but did not threaten her.

She says she dialed 911 and Alonzo went outside and sat in the yard.

The investigation has now been handed over to the Texas Rangers.

Deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative duty. That is standard protocol.
