Fire Department says 12 citations were issued on July Fourth

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Fire Department says it received 357 calls to its Fireworks Hotline on the Fourth of July.

The department said 12 citations were also issued Thursday as well as 15 confiscations.

The SAFD responded to several incidents that they said may have been fireworks related on July Fourth as well.

These incidents include:

  • 26 calls for brush/grass fires,
  • 1 fireworks injury call which turned out to be false,
  • 10 trash fire responses and
  • 1 structure fire call at the intersection of Hypoint and Scarsdale shortly before 8:30 Thursday night.

A fence was on fire and the flames were in danger of spreading to a house, but our firefighters arrived on scene and extinguished the fire before the flames reached the house.
