Fort Sam soldiers expose underwear on social media
SAN ANTONIO - A picture of two female Army soldiers from Fort Sam exposing their underwear while wearing fatigues has landed them in hot water.
Officials said the picture was taken in the soldiers' barracks at Fort Sam. Currently, the two women are there for combat medic training.
Reidinger said the women were eight weeks into their 16-week training program when they decided to take pictures of themselves and post it on their Facebook.
Since then, the photo has gone viral and it has even been posted to several different Facebook pages and internet sites.
“The entire time they're here in medical training, they're constantly counseled about standards of conduct and army values so clearly, there was a violation there," Fort Sam spokesman Phil Reidinger said. "Clearly, those photos did not depict the soldier in an appropriate environment."
Reidinger says male or female, pictures of this nature are unacceptable behavior, and they don't represent the Army's values at all.
"When you're in uniform, you not only represent yourself but you represent every soldier who's currently serving and every soldier who has ever served," said Reidinger.
It remains under investigation what punishment -- if any -- the female soldiers will face.
The soldiers remain in combat medic training, among the 2,000 other soldiers they started with nearly eight weeks ago.
