Food trailer stolen, returned within hours

Burglars caught on video, left potential evidence at scene

SAN ANTONIO - A food trailer valued at $35,000 was stolen on Monday night -- and returned to its rightful owner just hours later.

Local pastor Kyle Yuchinski, who fabricates the trailers for a living, said thieves busted through the gate at Texas Truck Tops, and damaged other merchandise in the process.

“Somebody busted through the front gate, destroyed a bunch of property here, and stole a concession trailer that I had just build completely as a showcase for the lot here,” Yuchinski said.

Surveillance video shows the truck being hauled away by a large sport utility vehicle, and Yuchinski says a printed receipt was also left at the scene.

Because of the high value of the trailer, Yuchinski believes the burglary was planned in advance.

“They went for a big-ticket item to try and make a lot of money at one time, which means they're dangerous people,” Yuchinski said.  “They had one vehicle to bust through the gate, and another to pull the trailer out of here, so these guys, they're really organized and dangerous. "

After contacting the authorities, Yuchinski said the Department of Public Safety returned his trailer on Monday, after a good Samaritan reported suspicious men trying to sell it.

Despite it being returned, Yuchinski said he plans to offer a reward for the arrest of the suspects, and will continue to work with authorities until the burglars are caught.
