Home invasion suspects involved in standoff with San Antonio police
San Antonio police surround home on Barryhill Street
SAN ANTONIO - Five people were in police custody Monday but police officials said there could still be more suspects inside a home on the city's Northwest Side.
One man surrendered to police minutes after two men and a woman were escorted out of a home in the 7500 block of Barryhill Street at 9:15 a.m. One man gave himself up to police earlier.
Police surrounded the home after someone reported seeing some people unloading items out of a pickup truck and into the home where the suspects eventually barricaded themselves in.
SWAT officers were communicating with someone inside the home, San Antonio police spokeswoman Sandy Gutierrez said.
The suspects were believed to have forced their way into a home in the 7300 block of Clear Water at 5 a.m. and demanded cash, drugs and other property, Gutierrez said.
Residents from six homes on Barryhill Street were evacuated and police asked people to stay away from the area.
