Cons­truction sign cuts man's face

SAN ANTONIO - A construction sign cuts a man's face after he swerves onto the shoulder.

This happened around 2:45 a.m. Saturday on IH-10 near Wurzbach.

According to police, a man was traveling west bound on the highway, in the fast lane with the driver's side window down, when he veered off the road onto the shoulder and hit a construction sign.

The sign bounced off the retaining wall, like a boomerang, and went through the driver's window, cutting his face.

The driver veered to the right, cutting across all lanes of traffic, and hitting the metal guard rail.

A witness stopped and called for help.

The driver was transported to University Hospital in critical condition.

Officials do not know if alcohol played a part in the accident. but they are still investigating.
