Arrest made in West Side crash that injured 3-year-old, 3 adults
San Antonio police: Driver ran red light
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio police have made an arrest in connection with a Sunday night crash on the West Side that left a 3-year-old boy and three adults with injuries.
However, as of noon Monday, they still had not released any details regarding the arrest.
At the scene of the crash around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, though, investigators said it appeared one of the drivers ran a red light.
According to police, that driver was heading south on SW 36th Street near Eldridge Avenue when he went through the red light.
His car then collided with another vehicle, driven by a woman.
“We just heard a big bang, so we all came out,” said Chris Guevara, who was watching television with his family in their nearby home. “I think the lady got injured pretty bad."
Police said the woman in the vehicle that was hit had to be taken to a hospital for treatment.
Three people in the other car, the driver, his wife and 3-year-old son, also suffered injuries.
At the scene of the crash, investigators said they were looking into the possibility that alcohol may have been involved.
Guevara said that particular corner where the crash happened has seen more than its share of accidents.
“All the time, all the time,” he said. “Before they didn't have the (traffic) lights, there used to be a lot of crashes. Now it's calmed down a little bit, but it's bad."
