Iron Rattler shut down after deadly coaster fall

Fiesta Texas closes ride temporarily as a precaution

SAN ANTONIO - Six Flags Fiesta Texas has temporarily shut down its newest and much anticipated roller coaster, the Iron Rattler.

The move is in response to the deadly ride at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington on Friday.

Rosa Ayala Goana, 52, was thrown from the 14-story Texas Giant roller coaster, investigators said.

Before the ride began, she was heard telling park employees she was worried her safety bar did not latch properly.

As the investigation is ongoing in Arlington, Fiesta Texas spokesperson Syndne Purvis says the Iron Rattler will be shut down as a precaution.

The closure is temporary, but Purvis would not say how long it is expected to last.

However, KSAT 12 spoke with another Fiesta Texas employee earlier Monday who said the closure would last at least a week.
