Woman accused of stealing from elderly victim in church
Victim recognized suspect, Regina Jackson, as someone she met in church
SAN ANTONIO - A local churchgoer identified as 48-year-old Regina Jackson has been arrested in connection with the theft of an elderly woman's purse.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that an 88-year-old woman told San Antonio police someone stole her purse from a closet in church on July 7.
She said when she reported the crime to her bank, she was informed that her Discover card had already been used, the affidavit stated.
Police obtained surveillance video from a bank at Ft. Sam Houston, and they said it showed a woman in a gold blouse conducting the transaction.
They said the victim quickly identified the woman in the video as someone named “Gina,” whom she had met at church, the affidavit stated.
She also told police the woman in the video was wearing the same blouse that she had on in church, the affidavit stated.
Police later identified the suspect as Jackson, the affidavit stated. She was arrested Wednesday on charges of credit card abuse and exploitation of the elderly.
