SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Police Department has put out a reward, in hopes of solving a gruesome murder on the city's Southwest Side.
On Oct. 23, the body of Alfredo Barrera, 57, was found in the back of a barber shop in the 800 block of Valley Hi.
Barrera's sister, Rosie Perez, said her brother was stabbed multiple times, and that the killer slashed his throat, cut open his stomach, and broke his legs.
Though initial reports said he was homeless, Perez said the two lived together before his death.
"On Oct. 23, they called me and they told me I needed to come over here, because they found my brother, Alfredo Barrera, stabbed multiple times," Perez said. "We just want to know why. Who did this to him? He didn't deserve to die like this -- at all."
As police continue their investigation, it's with urgency that Rosie hopes to put this ordeal behind her.
"I know there's someone out there that know something," Perez said. "Please, if anybody knows anything just call the police and let them know."
There is now a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer in this case. If you have information, call Crimestoppers at 224-STOP.
