Pair charged in false carjacking claim
Angela Lewis-Williams, 45, arrested; daughter’s boyfriend also charged
SAN ANTONIO - The story that Angela Lewis-Williams, 45, and her daughter’s boyfriend told about a carjacking in July just didn’t ring true to San Antonio police.
They suspect the pair filed a false police report, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Lewis-Williams (pictured) was arrested Wednesday on a charge of filing a false police report.
Charges have also been filed against her daughter’s boyfriend, Jerome Crenshaw, 22.
As of Thursday morning, it was unclear whether he was in custody yet.
The affidavit stated that the pair called police to an HEB parking lot at Rittiman Road and Highway 78 on July 11.
They told officers Crenshaw had borrow Lewis-Williams’ car and was sitting in it when a man with a gun approached him in the 2300 block of Burnet Street, the affidavit stated.
Police said the pair told them the gunman took off in Lewis-Williams’ car, the affidavit stated.
Investigators later discovered the car had not been stolen, but was in an impound lot the whole time, the affidavit stated.
They said they also learned that Lewis-Williams had filed a claim with her insurance company about the alleged theft.
Police said she had bought the insurance policy one day before she filed the claim, the affidavit stated.
