Two wounded warriors are getting a fresh start as they get ready to become recipients of two new homes.

Thanks to, Sgt. Eric Morante, USMC (Ret.) and Staff Sgt. Scott Roberts, USMC (Ret.) will both be receiving homes that are adapted to their special needs.

On Tuesday, the two veterans broke ground on their new homes in the Vintage Oaks subdivision in New Braunfels.

"This is surreal," said Morante. "It's really cool. I feel like I'm on Extreme Makeover, just building a house from the ground up. It's great."

Morante said he's looking forward to settling in and starting a catering business.

"Now that they are building my home, I feel like I have a mission," Morante said. "I'll be able to do my work out of the home."

Roberts said after being in the Marines for over 10 years, he's looking forward to starting college as he moves into his new home.

"It means a lot," said Roberts. "It shows that people are thinking about you and ... It just gives you a good feeling."

Meredith Iler, with, said that's the goal of the organization: to help wounded warriors who have specialized needs and get them back on their feet by building them homes and tailoring those homes to their special needs.

"It's wonderful to say thank you," said Iler. "But it's another thing if we can meet their physical needs and enable them to transition successfully back into the civilian sector and be as independent as possible." is planning to give away another 20 to 30 homes on Nov. 12 in Houston.
