Rosary held for infant found dead at NE San Antonio home

Inve­stigation ongoing into death of 9-mo­nth-old Michael Sanchez

Family and friends gathered Wednesday night to remember the life of 9-month-old Michael Sanchez.

A rosary was held in memory of Sanchez who was found dead inside his crib Sunday night at a home in the 5000 block of Casa Verde Street.

A witness told police Sanchez reportedly drowned, however, it remained unclear how long Sanchez was dead before authorities were called.

His body was taken to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The child's mother, grandmother and a family friend were all home at the time. All three were taken in for questioning. San Antonio police have not announced any charges and CPS is also investigating his death.

Sanchez will be laid to rest Friday in Victoria. Michael Sanchez Sr. said it will be the hardest day of his life.  

"It’s been a hard couple of days for me and my family, but were going to get through this,” Sanchez said. "He was always smiling had a beautiful smile. He was just always a happy little boy."
