Suspect turns self in, confesses to attempted robbery at Popeye's
John Ramos, 31, charged with aggravated robbery
A 31-year-old man has helped San Antonio police close the case on an attempted robbery at a West Side restaurant reportedly by turning himself in.
John Ramos was booked into the Bexar County Jail on a charge of aggravated robbery.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Ramos walked into the jail Wednesday and told a deputy that he “did something bad.”
The affidavit stated that Ramos admitted he stole a van from the Boysville group home Monday, then drove to a Popeye’s restaurant on SW Military Drive.
He told authorities that he used scissors to threaten a woman who was waiting in line, but ran off when she threw her purse over the counter instead of giving it to him, the affidavit stated.
San Antonio police had been investigating the attempted robbery but had not identified a suspect yet.
