Border Patrol agents seize marijuana worth more than $4 million

Agents seize more than 5,300 pounds of marijuana in 4 days

U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley confiscated more than $4.2 million worth of marijuana in multiple seizures since Sunday.

A press release stated one of the largest seizures occurred near Los Ebanos on Tuesday when agents observed a vehicle speeding away from the Rio Grande.

A helicopter from the Office of Air and Marine followed the vehicle and officials saw it make stops at three different residences.

Eventually agents stopped the vehicle and another vehicle that was suspected of scouting for the other vehicle, the release stated.

The passenger and the driver of the scout vehicle were detained, but the driver of the load vehicle fled into the thick brush.

Agents found nearly 440 pounds of marijuana at the last house where the load vehicle stopped, the release stated.

Several additional seizures brought the four-day total to more than 5,300 pounds.
