2nd person arrested in illegal Texas Hold 'em operation
Nidsa Ruiz, 36, allegedly worked as waitress during card games
A 36-year-old woman has become the second person to face criminal charges in connection with an illegal Texas Hold 'em gambling operation.
Nidsa Ruiz was among ten people who were taken into custody during a Sept. 3 raid at a building in the 5000 block of Interstate 10 West.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that San Antonio Police Department vice detectives had begun conducting surveillance at that location in June after receiving a tip.
Inside the establishment, detectives said they found gambling paraphernalia, including chips, a gaming table and a box containing about $3,600.
The affidavit stated that during questioning, Ruiz admitted to working as a waitress during the illegal card games.
She was arrested Thursday on a charge of gambling promotion. That is the same charge that Jeremy Stewart, 38, faces.
He was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly admitted to detectives that he worked there as a card dealer.
