San Antonio police: Wrestling match between friends leads to stabbing

Man hospitalized in serious condition after stabbing at Gevers and Porter

A wrestling match between friends got out of control late Tuesday night and led to a stabbing San Antonio, police said.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Porter Street.

Police arrested 45-year-old John Mark Krispin in connection with the stabbing of 47-year-old Lafayette White.

"Apparently, these two individuals had gotten into an argument, and the suspect at this point pulled out a knife, and stabbed the victim in the side," said San Antonio police Officer Roger Zuniga.

Police said the two men were horsing around and then got into a wrestling match.

White thought the fight was just for fun, Zuniga said, but Krispin took things more seriously and pulled out a knife.

"When officers arrived, they found the victim at the scene, and put out a description of the suspect who was involved," Zuniga said.

Police found Krispin two blocks away near the intersection of Walters and Porter streets. He was still armed with a knife when police arrived.

At least one witness identified Krispin as the man who stabbed White.

He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said the victim was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in serious condition.
