Chefs converge in San Antonio for 'Meatopia
"Woodstock of Edible Animals" at Pearl
Meatopia, a meat-centric event, makes its way to San Antonio for the first time.
For nine years, New Yorkers have enjoyed the annual Meatopia, described by the founder as the "Woodstock of Edible Animals."
This weekend, it's making its first stop ever in San Antonio at the Pearl.
"I've always wanted to be here and I really feel it's almost on this cusp of this explosion with these fantastic chefs I'm going to be cooking with at Meatopia," said Chef Adam Perry Lang, of Serious Barbecue in Los Angeles.
Lang, a NYC native, has earned his BBQ chops winning national competitions.
Visitors will enjoy smoked goodness from his 45-foot custom flatbed trailer filled with smokers, many that were custom-made.
"We're doing hand-crafted barbecue. What that means is we're actually making our own charcoal. I brought a custom pit here," he said. "There's fantastic barbecue ovens out there we can just set the temperature, but for us, we cook to sound and there's something very connective about it. My team gets really excited and the customers go crazy because it's really different."
Saturday's event has already sold out but there are still general admission tickets for Sunday, which you can purchase here.
More than 30 chefs will create dishes for the all you can eat event.
