A local veteran family received a mortgage-free home Saturday at the UTSA game.

Army Specialist Kevin Wear, his wife Leah, and their four children were presented with the home between the first and second quarters of the UTSA game against Tulane.

"It's overwhelming. A weight off my shoulders," said Wear.

Specialist Wear was wounded in Afghanistan when his unit drove over an IED. Three people were killed in the explosion, and Specialist Wear was one of the two survivors.

"When you're in Afghanistan, the only thing you think about is your family and home. But you know there are people back home that need you there," said Wear.

The home is a gift from a partnership between the Military Warriors Support Foundation, San Antonio Chevrolet Dealers, and Wells Fargo.

The home is 100% mortgage-free and fully renovated.
