Driver shot in head at stoplight in northeast San Antonio

SAPD: victim, shooter have connection

SAN ANTONIO - A man was shot in the back of the head at a stoplight near Rittiman Road and Fairdale around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The shooting happened as the victim and suspect were stopped in front Rittiman Plaza.

San Antonio police say the shooter got out of the passenger seat of a car and shot the 31-year-old man.

The shooter and the driver of that car fled East on Rittiman toward I-35.

The victim managed to drive a block before crashing his car in front of a Valero at the corner of Fairdale and Rittiman.

The victim was alert and talking to police before he was rushed into surgery at San Antonio Military Medical Center, according to investigators.

San Antonio police say the victim and shooter know each other but would not elaborate on their relationship. Investigators believe they have good leads on the suspects.
