CASTLE HILLS, Texas - Police say a burglar shattered the front door of the C'est La Vie Bakery in Castle Hills Monday morning and stole cash from the register.

The burglary happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 8000 block of West Avenue. Now, the owners are turning this inconvenience into a lesson of thankfulness.

Despite a shattered front door, broken glass scattered everywhere and an empty cash drawer, bakery owners Taylor Becken and Eric Lowe are not going to let a burglary set them back.

The duo's Castle Hills bakery remains open for business to their loyal customers.

"It hurts really in our cash flow," said Lowe. "I think we'll be able to make it long term, we have really loyal customers, but it puts us in a tight spot short term."

According to police, the burglar ran out of the store with the register, across the parking lot to a water spout, where the burglar broke open drawer. That's where the burglar left the drawer and receipts behind.

"We're going to start changing our store procedures to never leave any cash on hand in the building," said Lowe.

Being open for only a month, they think the burglar may have been a customer who fell on hard times.

"It is a wrong act, we definitely don't condone the act but, there's a possibility that they had no other choice," said owner Becken. The owner's are just glad the damage done can easily be fixed.

So far no arrests have been made in this burglary. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
