Falls City prepares for another state championship game
Battling Beavers head to Dallas hoping for second title in 3 years
FALLS CITY, Texas - The small town of Falls City in Karnes County is hoping its high school football team can bring home another state championship this week.
The undefeated (14-0) Battling Beavers will face off against Wellington at 1 p.m. Thursday at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
This is the second time in three years that the Beavers are playing for a state title, they won another championship in 2010.
On Tuesday night, the community gathered outside Falls City High School to hold a pep rally for the team.
Head Coach Steve Marbach said the town's unwavering support throughout the season has helped carry the team all the way to the championship game.
"They gave us a lot of strength last week against Tenaha so hopefully they can help push us over the edge again," Marbach said. "That's one reason the teams at this school are so great, because the community support is there. The parents are involved with their kids and getting them up here whenever we need them to. It's just a phenomenal place to live."
