Man gunned down north of downtown San Antonio identified

Victim identified as 35-year-old Juan Robles

SAN ANTONIO - The Bexar County Medical Examiner has identified a man who was fatally shot just north of downtown early Thursday morning.

Juan Robles, 35, was shot in the chest shortly before 6 a.m. in front of a home in the 500 block of East Grayson near Broadway.

Robles was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

"Apparently there was some sort of altercation between the victim and another male. There was a female involved as well," said SAPD Ofc. Roger Zuniga.

According to investigators, the shooting was not random, but officers would not elaborate on the relationship between the people involved.

Police searched the area around the home for a shooter, but Zuniga said the suspected gunman called them and turned himself in.

Police have not confirmed a motive for the shooting or said whether it was done in self-defense.
