The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a man who police said was attacked and fatally stabbed on the West Side early Sunday morning.

San Antonio police said Alex Alvarez, 24, was stabbed to death just after 2 a.m. in the 2200 block of Chihuahua Street on the foot bridge over Apache Creek.

SAPD investigators believe Alvarez and another man got into an argument with several people outside a nearby bar and decided to leave.

Alvarez and the other man were crossing the creek when they were attacked and stabbed several times, police said.

Alvarez died at the scene while the other victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Several witnesses were questioned, however, police have not announced an arrest connected to the case.
