San Antonio police: Girl killed in 410 crash, boy critically hurt
2 drivers taken to hospital in stable condition
A two-vehicle collision on the Northwest Side killed a 6-year-old girl and critically injured a 4-year-old boy early Friday morning, San Antonio police spokesman Officer Roger Zuniga said.
The crash occurred around 5 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of Loop 410 at Interstate 10 near Crossroads Boulevard.
Zuniga said a 31-year-old man was driving a vehicle headed west on NW Loop 410 and apparently left the roadway and crashed into the center median.
The vehicle then crossed over into eastbound traffic and struck another vehicle carrying a 22-year-old female driver and both children.
Zuniga said both drivers involved were transported to University Hospital in stable condition.
The eastbound lanes of 410 were shut down for hours while police investigated the crash, but the highway reopened just before 8 a.m.
Zuniga said the initial indication is that neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be a factor in the crash.
