Ink-soaked kitten rescued from local business

ADL searching for foster home for kitten

SAN ANTONIO - A kitten in distress, appropriately named "Smudge," was rescued Thursday from a local printing company, according to a press release from the Animal Defense League.

The kitten's fur was full of ink and other chemicals when ADL got the call.

Employees at the business had been keeping an eye on Smudge for a few days, but the kitten wouldn't let them get close to help.

Finally, they were able to get close enough to see that the 4-week-old kitten was having trouble moving.

According to ADL, Smudge was given several baths and is now resting comfortably at the shelter.

Veterinary staff located several severely dried and stiff patches of fur and skin on the kitten's head, chest and tail.

ADL says that after she is medically cleared, Smudge will need a foster home where she can fully recover before returning to the shelter to find her forever home.

Anyone interested in fostering Smudge or any other animals is asked to contact the shelter at 210-655-1481.
