5K NISD students in danger of missing 1st day of school
'No Shots, No School' policy enforced for 2014-15 school year
Due to the enforcement of Northside Independent School District's "No Shots, No School" policy, students who are not up-to-date on their immunizations -- approximately 5,000 -- will not be allowed to attend class when the school year begins on Aug. 25.
However, the University Health System will be offering their services, such as immunizations, physicals and minor acute care, at local schools as a convenient way for parents to make sure their children will be ready for the first day of school.
The services will be offered at the following schools from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the listed dates:
- July 28: Jefferson Middle School, 10900 Shaenfield, 78254
- Aug. 13: Rawlinson Middle School, 14100 Vance Jackson, 78249
- Aug. 18: Jones Middle School, 1256 Pinn Road, 78227
- Aug. 19: Luna Middle School, 200 N. Grosenbacher Road, 78253
- Aug. 20: Vale Middle School, 2120 N. Ellison Drive, 78251
The University Health System accepts private insurance, CHIP, Medicaid and Carelink. However, for those uninsured, a $15 fee will be collected at the time of the visit.
