Killer nurse denied parole

Genene Jones serving life sentence in fatal poisoning of infant

SAN ANTONIO - Genene Jones, a nurse convicted of killing a 15-month-old child, was denied parole Thursday, according to the Bexar County District Attorney's Office.

Jones is serving a life sentence for the 1982 fatal poisoning of Chelsea McClellan in Kerrville.

She was convicted of injury to a child in another case in Bexar County in which the infant survived. Jones is also suspected in 46 other child death cases in a Bexar County hospital that were never tried.

The Texas Parole Board will not review Jones case again before she will be released on mandatory parole in February 2018.

When released, Jones will be subject to electronic monitoring, no contact with children and will not be allowed to work with children.
