51 pavers dedicated at Purple Heart Memorial outside Cadena-Reeves Justice Center

SAN ANTONIO - The Bexar County Commissioners Court and the Alamo Chapter of the Purple Heart recognizing Purple Heart Day on Thursday with a special ceremony.

A total of 51 new pavers were dedicated at the Purple Heart Memorial outside the Cadena-Reeves Justice Center.

The red granite memorial was first dedicated in 2006 to honor all military service members who have been wounded in combat in service to the United States.

"Some gave all and some gave some, but they gave," said Precinct 2 Commissioner Paul Elizondo. "Purple Heart recipients are the epitome of being an American citizen."

The collection of pavers represents all wars since World War II.
