City of Sandy Oaks holds first ever election

SANDY OAKS, Texas - They new city has a new City Council.

Sandy Oaks held its first election Saturday since incorporating.

With the results in, the city has a new mayor as Jim Clement ran unopposed for the position.

Clement told KSAT 12 that the City Council will have to work quickly if they want to get anything on the November ballot.

The deadline for that is Monday, Aug. 18. One item the new mayor wants on the ballot is setting the sales tax rate, which would allow the city to begin collecting revenues.

The five council aldermen elected are David Tremblay, Earnest Gay, Douglas Tomasini, Joel Ortega and Micki Ball.

Clement said the votes will be canvassed Wednesday morning. Shortly after that, he and the newly-elected councilmen will be sworn in.
