HOUSTON - The attorney for an Army sergeant held as a prisoner of war in Afghanistan for five years says the soldier wants to attend college once the investigation into how he was captured by the Taliban is finished.

Attorney Eugene Fidell, a military justice expert who teaches at the Yale Law School, said Wednesday that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is in "a holding pattern" doing administrative duties at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.

He says any discussion of where the 28-year-old Bergdahl would attend school or what he wants to study is premature.

The Army has extended the time for its investigation of Bergdahl's disappearance. Fidell says he has no problem with the Army being thorough.

Bergdahl was exchanged in May for five detainees at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention center.
