Police working to track down suspects wanted in motel robberies
SAPD released photos of 2 men wanted for Super 8 robbery
SAN ANTONIO - Robbery detectives are working a string of motel robberies that happened early Tuesday morning.
The robberies happened between the hours of 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. throughout the city.
The motels hit include The Comfort Suites, The Quality Suites, The Holiday Inn Express, La Quinta and two Super 8 motels.
Police have released photos of two suspects wanted for the robbery at the Super 8 Motel located in the 3600 of IH 35 N. on the city's northeast side.
“At this point, we are still trying to confirm if all of those are connected," said Officer Doug Greene with the San Antonio Police Department. "But, we do know at a Super 8 Motel, we had two suspects in their 20s that we are looking for.”
Greene said the two walked into the Super 8 Motel around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, when one of them walked up to the counter, pointed a gun at the employee there and demanded money.
The employee reached in a cash drawer and grabbed a handful of pennies.
The suspect demanded money again and this time, according to the police report, the employee asked, “Is that gun real?” The suspect's facial expression changed as he told the employee that he would be right back.
Greene said they can’t confirm right now if the weapon was real.
"If someone is displaying what looks like a gun, you should always use caution," said Greene. "It’s better to play it safe and we don’t want anyone getting hurt or anybody getting killed. If It looks like they are displaying a handgun, comply with their orders. It’s not worth losing your life.”
After the suspect was questioned, police said both suspects walked out of the lobby doors they had walked in through.
Based on the descriptions police released on Tuesday afternoon, they said it is possible the two men are connected to the other robberies, but they are still looking into it.
